2023-24 Highlights
The Red Knights team squad finished the 2023-24 season with a 7-21 record good for fifth place in the Metro West Conference and the #6 seed in the section 5AA tournament.
Congratulations to Red Knight varsity wrestler Chris Redden ‘24 who qualified for the 2024 MSHSL Wrestling State Tournament. Redden’s qualification for the individual State competition was secured with a second-place finish in the Section 5AA tournament

The Knight Errant is the official student news publication of Benilde-St. Margaret’s Senior High School. All content is produced by the students of the Journalistic Writing, Editorial Leadership, and Graphic Design classes at Benilde-St. Margaret’s School.

Congratulations to Red Knight varsity wrestler Chris Redden ‘24 who qualified for the 2024 Minnesota High School League (MSHSL) Wrestling State Tournament. Redden’s qualification for the individual State competition was secured with a commendable second-place finish in the Section 5AA tournament held at Orono High School on Saturday, Feb. 24.
In addition to Redden’s remarkable accomplishment, varsity Red Knight wrestlers competed in the Section 5AA tournament with impressive finishes:
107 lbs/Garrett Heinen – 7th Place
114 lbs/Kellen Shanahan – 3rd Place
121 lbs/Levi Sattler – 3rd Place
127 lbs/Jacob Redden – 5th Place
133 lbs/Chris Redden – 2nd Place
139 lbs/Simon Carlisle – 3rd Place
145 lbs/Owen Brooker – 7th Place
152 lbs/Matthew Litchy – 4th Place
“Chris has been one of the most tenacious and hardest working members of our team this year,” shared head wrestling coach John DeLozier. “I am incredibly proud to have coached him for the past six years and am excited to see him compete at the State Tournament this week!”
Redden achieved a significant milestone of reaching 100 career wins after securing a second-place finish at the Roseville Invitational in late January. This upcoming State tournament appearance marks Redden’s second, adding to his already impressive journey.
The 2024 MSHSL Wrestling State Tournament will be held Thursday, Feb. 29 – Saturday, Mar. 2 at The Xcel Energy Center in downtown St. Paul. Redden will compete in the first round of Class AA wrestling which begins on Friday, Mar. 1 at 9 a.m. Tickets and more information about the tournament can be found here.
