wertAfter an incredible season of demonstrating vast knowledge in subjects like math, science, history, literature, and more, the Benilde-St. Margaret’s Knowledge Bowl team is headed back to the state tournament! Known as The Bowler Express, named after former BSM math teacher Dan Bowler, the team is ready to compete against the top teams in Minnesota, confident in their ability to perform at a high level.

The Bowler Express placed 2nd at the Class AAA Varsity Sections out of 95 competing teams. Dan Murray, BSM social studies teacher and Knowledge Bowl advisor said, “The team really worked well together and supported each other, both during competition and socially. I am really honored to be associated with this group of students!”

Adding to their impressive achievement, The Bowler Express was the sole recipient of the prestigious Lenius Sportsmanship Award, given in honor of longtime Chaska Knowledge Bowl coach Mr. Lenius. In hopes of promoting including and positive participation among the players, this award, created by the Lenius family, recognizes teams that embody inclusion, positivity, and outstanding sportsmanship. BSM’s team stood out among the 95 competing schools for their respect and support for one another.

The state Knowledge Bowl tournament will be held at Cagun’s in Brainerd, MN from April 10-11. The Bowler Express is eager to represent BSM at the state level and hopes to improve their previous ranking of 9th in last year’s state tournament.

Congratulations to the Knowledge Bowl team on an outstanding season. BSM wishes you the best of luck at the state tournament!
