2024 Highlights
The BSM boys golf squad capped off a tremendous season by bringing home the MSHSL Class AAA State Championship played at Bunker Hills in Coon Rapids. Benilde-St. Margaret’s won the team tournament by carding an 8-over as a team, good for a one-stroke margin over Waconia. Benilde-St. Margaret’s last won a boys golf championship in 2003.

Welcome to the 2024 boys golf season. Weather will play a large factor in our plans this year . I want to give you this tentative information before spring break.
Developmental – 7th and 8th graders (Do not need to try out for JV or Varsity)
- The developmental squad will be split up into manageable groups with similar skill sets.
- Coached by Bob Lyons
- Dates: April 15th – May 16th
- Practice times: 3:30 – 4:30, Monday – Thursday
- Location: Glen Lake Golf & Practice Center (14350 County Road 62, Minnetonka)
JV Boys Golf Team (9th– 11th graders)
- Number of players on team: 12
- Coach: Mike Swann
- Dates: TBD
- Practice times: TBD
- Location: Meadowbrook Golf Club (201 Meadowbrook Rd. Hopkins)
- Season: Play 4 Metro West conference matches along with a few dual matches
Varsity Boys Golf Team (9th– 12th graders)
- Number of players on team: 8/9

- Location: Edina Country Club and Braemar Golf Course
- Season: Play 6 Metro West conference matches along with a few invites, duals, Sectionals and (hopefully) State matches.

- April 2nd – 5th, Tuesday – Friday, 3:30 – 4:30

- Everyone must tryout with18 holes each day.
Schedules for JV and Varsity will be released after tryouts and when teams are formed.
All times, dates and sites are subject to change due to weather.
Attendance will be taken at all sessions. Anyone absent must email Coach Herbst at coachherbst@bsmschool.org or text 952-451-3025.
Once the season starts, always remember school comes first and golf second. If you need help with any schoolwork, please contact Coach Herbst ASAP.
A weekly update will be sent out by email on Saturday or Sunday with the upcoming weekly practice and match schedule.
Unfortunately, BSM is unable to offer transportation for tryouts, evaluations, practices, and matches.

Golfing Red Knights Capture State Title
When Patrick Hastings ’26 approached the final hole of the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) Class 3AAA State Tournament for boys’ golf, he faced a 20-foot putt. The course at Bunker Hill Golf Club is known for its tough lies, but after sizing up the shot, Hastings moved the ball to within three feet of the hole. Patrick Hastings sank a 3-foot putt to send his Benilde-St. Margaret’s teammates into a championship roar on the final hole on June 12 at Bunker Hills Golf Club in Coon Rapids securing the Class AAA title by one stroke.
