fThe Benilde-St. Margaret’s junior high drama department is excited to present Frozen, Jr. to the community this weekend! Performances will take place Friday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m.. The cast consists of 16 junior high students as well as 12 students on tech crew, being a mix of both junior and senior high.

Disney’s Frozen, Jr. tells the heartwarming story of two sisters, Anna and Elsa, as they learn about love and friendship. Elsa has magical powers with which she accidentally curses her town, Arrendelle, into eternal winter. Anna then begins her journey with Kristoff, Sven, and Olaf to find Elsa and bring back summer.

The cast of Frozen Jr. has been rehearsing since before winter break to learn music, choreography, and scene work in preparation for this weekend’s show. They began their work with Maddie Schafer ’18 as their choreographer, learning dance moves and staging. Jean Van Heel, their music director, has led numerous music rehearsals to work on solos and ensemble numbers for the play.

Megan Kelly Hubbell, director of Frozen Jr. and freelance director and choreographer, has worked with the BSM drama department for the past 18 years. Hubbell said, “I admire each and every student in the cast, not to mention the incredible efforts of our tech crew that helped build the set, run light and sound boards, and work backstage. We truly have an amazing group of students that works so well together to create the magic of theater,” Hubbell shared. “They worked really hard and have a fantastic show to present this weekend!”

The cast and crew hopes to see every BSM student and family show up to support them to see all of their hard work and dedication in action.

All staff, faculty, and student tickets are free to shows this weekend! Don’t miss this opportunity to see our Red Knights shine on stage. Purchase your tickets here.
