“We have a robust and successful athletics and activities program at BSM that serves an important role in the holistic education of our students across middle and high school,” said Danielle Hermanny ‘03, BSM president. “Matt recognizes those strengths and has a clear, faith-filled vision to help us build on that tradition of excellence and grow it into the future.”

Pryor joins BSM from St. Thomas Academy where he currently serves as assistant athletic director of operations and middle school athletic director, overseeing a coaches mentoring program for staff development, managing the program’s budget, and coordinating scheduling and athletic eligibility for student athletes and participants.

Pryor succeeds Rick Johns ’70 who will be retiring at the end of the 2024-2025 school year. “I am thankful to Rick for his dedicated work overseeing our diverse co-curricular program of 70+ clubs, teams, and activities for middle school and high school students,” Hermanny said, “From our recent state championships in dance and girls’ basketball to coordinating plans for next year’s inaugural sixth grade, BSM’s co-curricular program is vibrant and compliments our exceptional education programs in the classroom.”

Pryor previously served as athletic director and a Physical Education & Health teacher at St. Thomas More Catholic School, St. Paul. He has also served as the head coach for the varsity girls’ basketball team at Concordia Academy and Minnehaha Academy, and has coached notable D1 athletes including Nunu Agara, Addi Mack, and Liv McGill.

“It’s an honor to join Benilde-St. Margaret’s, a community that values faith, excellence, and tradition,” Pryor said. “I’m excited for the opportunity to serve in a place where the development of students – both on and off the field – is a top priority. I look forward to building on the strong foundation already in place.”

Pryor is excited to support BSM student-athletes and participants in Red Knight activities, ensuring they grow in confidence and character with an awareness that each represents the BSM community through their participation in athletics and activities. “BSM’s focus on developing well-rounded students resonates with me, and I’m excited to contribute to that mission,” Pryor said.

Over the coming months, Pryor will be present on campus, meeting with coaches and advisors in preparation for the 2025-2026 school year, in anticipation of various programs which officially begin during the summer months.

We welcome Matt Pryor to the BSM community and are excited to have him join our exceptional Red Knight athletics and activities program.
