Girls Flag Football
The Minnesota Vikings are working with high school programs to grow girls flag football participation throughout the state. Four teams just completed the inaugural season of high school girls flag football (La Crescent-Hokah, Rosemount, Pine Island, and Houston high schools), with over a dozen high schools set to play in spring of 2025. The Vikings have invited Benilde-St. Margaret’s to be part of this growth!
There will likely be 2 practices a week that we will try to schedule around other practices so you can participate in Flag as well as another spring team. Games will be on Sundays.
Currently, 12 states have girls flag football sanctioned at the high school level. The NFL and Minnesota Vikings have a mutual goal of sanctioning girls flag football at the varsity level in all 50 states. Flag football is set to debut as an Olympic sport at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
More to come!
