The Benilde-St. Margaret’s Knightettes celebrated an impressive third State Title in four years at the Minnesota State High School League’s (MSHSL) Class AA Jazz Dance competition on Friday, Feb. 14.
The team’s victory is a testament to their hard work, precision, and dedication to their art. Their energetic “Who I Am” routine was impactful and unforgettable for those in attendance.
“The moment Benilde-St. Margaret’s was called as the AA Jazz State Champion was absolutely surreal. This team set high expectations from the start, focusing on becoming not just stronger dancers, but a more unified team,” said coach Samantha Cameranesi. “Winning a state title was an incredible achievement, these athletes have dedicated themselves fully to their sport and each other. Competitions often stretch from early morning to late evening, leaving little time for anything else. Their commitment, resilience, and passion for dance are unmatched.”
On Saturday, Feb. 15, the Knightettes returned to the State high kick dance competition, placing second in the Class AA division with their original dance routine called “Welcome To Moulin Rouge.”
“For me, getting to share this exciting moment with my teammates is something I will never forget. I have been on the team for six years, and have had a lot of success, but this season was even better,” dance team captain Molly Giertsen ’25 said. “The feeling of knowing your hard work finally paid off in the end makes everything worth it. I was also so glad that I got to leave my legacy as a champion for my final year, and that I got to watch the younger girls experience what I have been so lucky to have experiences twice prior: being a champion.”
The dance team’s strong performance at state rounds out a remarkable season full of passion and triumph. “I could not be more proud of the goals and expectations that this year’s captains and seniors set,” Cameranesi said noting, “This team’s journey has been about so much more than just trophies. It’s about the sisterhood they’ve built, the challenges they’ve overcome, and the lasting memories they’ve made together.”
Casey Butner ’25 and Ellie Shideman ’25 were named to the MSHSL All State Tournament Team Kick team while Lauren Adams ’25 and Molly Giertsen ’25 were named to the MSHSL All State Tournament Team Jazz team.
Congratulations to the BSM Knightettes on this momentous accomplishment. The community is #BSMproud of their continued success and achievements.
